OBON - Decollation of cucumber and eggplant
One of decollation for OBON is an animal made of cucumber and eggplant.
Do you know what these animals represent?
The cucumber is designed for "horse." And eggplant is representing "cow".
We welcome our ancestors' souls during Obon.
With "Horse", hoping to come back to us as soon as possible. And when ancestors are going back, the "cow" with the thought of parting as slowly as possible.

Special Skill - KARATE 2 (Yokohama 87)
R.H. was Cub scout till last year. He is 1st grade in Junior High School (i.e. 7th grade).
He is practicing KARATE for 3 and half year.
He changed to SHITORYU a half year before and now with white belt. This is demonstration video of HEIAN 2 DAN.

[greeting message] Here's a video message of Yokohama 87 Cubs, introducing their own name in Japanese and English.
It may be partly because of the mask, but because it was their first time to take a video message, the scouts seemed a little bit nervous and could not speak out loud.

I'm from Yokohama 87 group, and my family is participating to this 2020 Olympics Camp. Our team mascot is "SACER".
Name is combined with the guardian god of Okinawa "Sisar" with the eldest daughter' name to make this "SACER".
By the way, Sacer was hand made by my wife.

Challenge Japanese - Say Hello

Japanese Greetings
1. Good morning - "OHAYO"
"OHAYO GOZAIMASU" is a polite expression and used when addressing elders.2. Hello - "KONNICHIWA"
3. Good evening - "KONBANWA"
What? Are there two greetings at night?
"OYASUMI" or "OYASUMINASAI" is a farewell greeting at night. Or I use it when I sleep (When I go to bed). "OYASUMINASAI" is a polite expression and used when addressing elders.
"KONBANWA" is when you meet someone at night.
Also, don't forget to practice bowing when greeting. Bowing makes you look more Japanese.

Challenge Game - KAMIZUMO

[ Materials ]
[ Making SUMO Wrestler (1) ]
- Have a paper (thickness as post card) of 10cm X 13cm and fold it to a half.
- Draw your favorite character on one side. At that time draw right and left hand, one up and one down.
[ Making SUMO Wrestler (2) ]
[ Making SUMO Ring ]
- Use paper box such as small pizza box or any other box will do.
- Draw a circle with compass or use a round dish to have 20cm diameter circle.
- Place a bonding agent along a circle.
- After it is half dry, place a kite string over bonding agent placed on box to make circle.
- You can paint and decorate a SUMO tournament ring. For example to have small circle on 4 corners where player hits by a finger.
[ How to Play ]
- Place your SUMO wrestler in a middle of ring.
- With a call for start ("HAKKE-YOI"), players will hit the corners with fingers.
- Player will win, when his/her SUMO wrestler push other wrestler our of circle or make opponent to fall down.
